During one of our photo shoots for our website, we had the pleasure of meeting a man who’s in the forefront of healthy, sustainable eating and living; while photographing his adorable daughter. Some of you may have heard his name flying through the organics circle. If not, please allow me to introduce you to Bryant Terry.
Bryant Terry is a chef and the author of two books and co-wrote another book titled Grub with Anne Lappé. Grub gives you the low down on organics and the many ways you can cook them. His first book, Vegan Soul Kitchen is a medley of down home cooking married with some African Caribbean, African American, Native American and European flavors. His most recent title is The Inspired Vegan. A collection of recipes, music, storytelling, art and his favorite food prep techniques.
He is also a known activist for healthy eating, “I thought it was important to bring this to the fore,” he says. Bryant is the found and executive director of b-healthy, (Build Healthy Eating & Lifestyles to Help Youth). This is a non-profit organization to develop and maintain good eating habits for low-income youth. To top off his awesomeness, he is also the host of Urban Organic, a web series featuring cooking, farming and community health. Even if you aren’t totally devoted to being a vegan, it wouldn’t hurt to try some of his recipes (they look amazing!), who knows, it may turn over a new leaf for you.
